Buffalo Bend Ranch

2400 sq. finished (additional 700 sq ft unfinished loft area), owner-designed with builder Bowerbird Construction for ~ $95/sq ft, completed 1996.

Features include metal roof for water catchment, septic system, and slab foundation. Meg and her son have their home on the market also, and some of the adjoining natural acreage is fenced with large animal pens. The floor plan features a woodstove in the central great room, with large bed-bath combos & no hallways. Central AC and heating are available, and the house was pre-plumbed so that greywater recycling is an option, too.

Meg highly recommends the Settlement Home's annual late-October garage sale for used building materials (here, an entire set of found windows & doors is used) and she stresses, as everyone does, living on your future homesite if possible. And lastly, find a good carpenter to build-in hickory & birch cabinets like these, too!
