[Gaviotas] Susan schooling in green technologies

I said that "sustainable" is relative, meaning as compared with something else.
Some technologies are more sustainable than others.
Sustaiability is relevant, of course, but, in my thinking, not infinite.

Good question, Don.  Infinitely sustainable as we define it is related specifically to lifestyles that engage a single planet's resources in such a way that they are not depleted for the following generations.  You are right that the term "sustainable" is relevant.  So much so these days, that it really has no meaning any longer.  When we are collectively saying that things like compact flourescent lightbulbs are "green" and strip clearing of forests are "green" as long as we replant little baby trees, then the term sustainable has been made meaningless.  That's why we took the term "infinitely" sustainable.  All our actions and lifestyle choices will be made for the wellbeing of our grandchildren's and their grandchildren's lives as well as ours.  We will engage our creativity toward restoring our balance with nature that allowed us to evolve to this point.
Blessings, Joyce

Hi-

What do you mean by "infinitely" sustainable lifestyles?
I think that sustainability is relative, a way to compare one system with another.

I am exploring your website on language.

thanks,
Don

Greetings Susan,

Your plans are very interesting to me because they seem to dovetail very well with a project I and my husband are working on.  I am creating a demonstration settlement in Colorado for infinitely sustainable lifestyles (planned for 100-200 families) and my husband is creating a similar settlement for ex-felons.  He currently works in the Federal Prison system and is working on creating a demonstration that he read about in the Ringing Cedars of Russia book series.  If you have read that series and are interested in talking more about our project, I'd love to hear from you.
Blessings,
Joyce

yes Catherine, I want to stop waste from going to landfills, use leftover
parts/materials from companies currently making products, then use those
leftover parts/materials to make new marketable products.  To provide work
for ex offenders who cannot find employment. Am thinking I could talk with
local professors at U.C.
Industrial Design Department, I live in Cincinnati.
I have developed a tile installation project using broken tile that normally
hits our local landfill, and am interested in more opportunities similar to
this project that will provide Transitional Jobs. Suggestions?
Thanks
Susan
