[Gaviotas] Visit?

I don't know if you all have seen the post by Friends of Gaviotas where this
link was given (http://www.friendsofgaviotas.org/FAQ)
The FAQ said about visits:

To make it possible for interested people to visit safely, Friends of
Gaviotas is working with Gaviotas to organize annual trips beginning in
2011. The planned week-long trips would be offered once a year, in February
(dry season), for up to 30 people, and would include:

1.. .a stay in Bogota, touring Gaviotas installations in the city, visit
the Gaviotas office there (workshop and biodiesel plant on site), meals and
conversation with founder Paolo Lugari and others,

2.. .a stay near Gaviotas with a day trip to Gaviotas (no overnights
there, given the current public order situation), meals/chats with the
villagers, visit common buildings, factory, and - of course - the forest,

3.. .optional add-ons to other innovative projects in Colombia,

4.. .a $500 contribution (per traveler) to pay for the planting and upkeep
of one additional acre (per traveler) of Gaviotas forest (a carbon offset)

Friends of Gaviotas will not profit from organizing these trips, but still,
they won't be cheap. Getting to Gaviotas requires a chartered plane flight
and possibly (what's the situation on the ground?) a government escort.
Based on a trial in 2005, we estimate a cost per participant of $1,900
(includes the $500 above, but not your roundtrip from your home to Bogota).
We will send a heads-up to our list when we are ready to take deposits for
the first 30 travelers.

If you travel independently and are more risk-tolerant, you could just show
up and would not be turned away. But please don't expect the Gaviotas Bogotá
office to give you directions and help you get there, as they don't want to
play a part in putting you in danger.
